Back-To-Basics: Eat, Pray, Live

So as we embark on this challenge to get back to the basics, let’s do it first by accepting that there might just be an insecurity that has allowed us to fall into this whirlwind of believing we aren’t one thing unless we are another.

Let’s swap that for the truth of who we were created to be, who we are and who we are becoming. We know that ultimately God has the final say regarding what happens to our lives, but He gives us the ability to choose.  (Joshua 24:15) His hope is that we would choose to allow Him the permission to guide us, speak to us and that we would heed His advice.

Ultimately, His hope is that we would exchange our assumptions with HIS TRUTH! (Galatians 5)

How do we get Back To Basics? By reevaluating our understanding of what these 3 things mean to us and how they determine our shape…

A few “Basic” Principles that we get to EAT, PRAY and LIVE…

EAT – Matthew 6:25-34 The Message (MSG)

25-26 “If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.

27-29 “Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.

30-33 “If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

34 “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

PRAY –  Jeremiah 29:11-13

We go there by Anchoring first in the basic (T)ruth:For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

LIVE – Galatians 5:1; 13-15; 22-23 

So stand strong for our freedom! The Anointed One freed us so we wouldn’t spend one more day under the yoke of slavery, trapped under the law.  For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. 14 For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[c] 15 But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another.

22-23: But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things

–Front kicks
–Squats or chair sits
–Jog/march in place
–push ups (knees, toes, against a wall or off the countertop) 30 seconds

–side shoulder press away (bend elbows at your sides, bring hands up to shoulders, slowly push hands out to side away from body, return to start & repeat)
–Back kicks/donkey kicks
–side to side lunges (30 sec each side)
–Mountain Climbers
