You are free to quit, but then finish.

Finish the work.

That thing you started.

Finish it.

I heard the song Day 1 by Matthew West a few weeks ago and it challenged me.

It checked my gut about all the reasons I’ve quit and all the reasons excuses I haven’t finished the stuff I started.

How many ideas, fitness plans, diets, bible studies have we started but never finished?

Matthew West Day 1

I wish I wasn’t wishing anymore, I wish I could remember nobody’s keeping score // I’m tired of throwing pennies in the well, I gotta do something, here goes nothing. // Well every single day your Grace reminds me, that my best days are not behind me, wherever my yesterday may find me, well I don’t have to stay there. See my hourglass is upside down, my someday soon is here and now the clock is tickin and I’m so tired of missing out. It’s day one and here comes the sun. Every morning, every morning mercies new. Starting over now.

We’ve locked it in our brains to never quit.

But what if quitting is the very thing you need to do.

What if quitting moves you away from the mindset of victim to victorious.
What if quitting moves you away from the mindset of fear to faith.
What if quitting moves you away from thinking you can’t to being courageous.
What if quitting makes you realize that you are free to start over.

What if quitting allows you the freedom to live in Grace and grace gives you the strength you need to finish YOUR RACE.

Quit quitting and start finishing.

(Galatians 5 – The Living Bible)

Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.

You were getting along so well. Who has interfered with you to hold you back from following the truth? It certainly isn’t God who has done it, for he is the one who has called you to freedom in Christ. But it takes only one wrong person among you to infect all the others.

I am trusting the Lord to bring you back to believing as I do about these things. God will deal with that person, whoever he is, who has been troubling and confusing you.

What have you quit that you need to finish?

Lord lead us in the direction that gives us the strength to finish what we started. Help us to see that your plans for us don’t include our destruction but everything for our good and your glory. Help us to tune out the voices that easily get us tripped up and steer us away from your instructions. Whether it’s taking care of my body, my family or my talents & ideas, help me finish. Thank you Lord for being faithful to finish what you started in me. In Jesus name, Amen
