Why I refuse to finish strong

“This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“The only preparation for tomorrow is the right use of today”…

Who’s helping you set your intentions, adjust your focus and set your compass for the new year? Who’s holding you accountable to the progress over the perfection? Would you let me help you?

Too often we make plans and invite God to notice them then bless them.

“There’s a war between guilt & Grace, they’re fighting for a sacred space”…

Set your intentions –

Jesus promised us that any one of us who is tired and weary could come to Him and He would give us rest. Friends I think we could add to that translation and include sick and tired of being sick and tired. Fed up with running the rat race, caught up by comparison, overwhelmed and overworked, feeling less than, craving community but can’t ever seem to find your fit, tired of jeans that don’t fit, tired of caring whether or not anything fits. All of that, Jesus says bring me your junk.

His plan and purpose for our lives really has one main target; relationship with Him. You know that verse Seek First The kingdom? That’s what that means. When we seek His kingdom first, He takes care of the other stuff. Yes, even the January 1st, “New Year Goal/Dear Jesus give me strength to stick with this one” stuff.

What if we decided to not “finish strong” and instead as my friend Lindsay said ‘just be’.

What do you think Jesus would do with that?

Could we still fulfill our ‘calling’ by simply judging being?

Could we still live healthy, happy, satisfied lives by just being?

I trust we could. I trust that’s why Paul says in Philippians 3 to forget what’s behind you.

“Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:12-14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Don’t finish strong, Press on

It’s time to wipe the slate clean. To PRESS ON. To let go of the stuff that never moves us in the direction we need to move.

Be Still

Stillness enables us to move forward with purpose. Stillness allows us to be intentional instead of reactionary. Sure ending to stillness might be the most active, life-giving step you take. – Lara Casey Make It Happen

Comparison isn’t only the thief of joy; it’s the thief of everything.

“So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.

Invite a friend to join you! Forward this post, tweet it, Facebook it, email it! Someone needs this encouragement!!

Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal. There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I’ve warned you of them many times; sadly, I’m having to do it again. All they want is easy street. They hate Christ’s Cross. But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites.”
