Swimsuit Confidence: THAT’S IT!!!

Ephesians 4:22-24 CEB

…change the former way of life that was part of the person you once were, corrupted by deceitful desires. Instead renew the thinking in your mind by the Spirit and clothe yourself with the new person created according to God’s image in justice and true holiness.

Changing who we use to be into who we are and gradually who we’re becoming. THAT’S swimsuit confidence! That’s dropping the weight that holds us back that so easily traps us. (Hebrews 12:1)

I went back to my hometown for a family reunion to meet family I sort of knew, some I had no clue who they were and others I know so well our children couldn’t tell us apart. I was ridiculously excited & giddy yet slightly nervous. Had I lived up to the expectation and “made something of myself”, would I walk in and they see the same little girl only in an adult body (Lord help the vulnerable side of me), or would they notice the change.

As we prepared for the trip THOUSANDS of thoughts crossed my mind. Bittersweet memories of a broken past, disappointment, fears, rejections, resentment; then I was reminded of the redemption!

The redemption of Grace & Forgiveness & restorations!

I love watching, or should I say, I love being involved in God’s timing. I’m in awe over the fact that this confidence challenge wraps on the last day of the month, the last day if my visit, only days before my birthday! It’s as if He’s showing me the scriptures” behold I have made all things new”!!!!!

This old house was where my insecurities began. When I drove by to show my children a slight chill went down my neck and I got a knot in my throat. Then again, the Lord reminded me, you’ve been remade.

Childhood Home...

This weekend I saw a side of my father I never knew. I saw him laugh from his belly with a joy I never knew he had. I saw him show a tender love for people that could only be representative of Christ’s love. I saw my daddy. I never knew that man. Much of my confidence or lack of, was deeply attached to the man I never knew. In 38 years I never knew how much I needed to know him!

This weekend, for me wasn’t just a family reunion, it was another chapter in my S.T.O.R.Y. I think I’ll call this chapter “Swimsuit Confidence”.

As we finish this chapter and turn the page onto the next let’s all agree that it’s not about what happens or happened to you, it’s how you respond to it and what you do with the lesson God taught you!

No weapon formed against you shall prosper! Keep your heart pumpin, spirit movin’ & get inneractive!
