Move Free: OCCUPY your space

“So whether suffering or free from laboring, it’s for your Glory and my good.” – All Sons & Daughters

Fitness isn’t what we do. It’s who we become. The new Reebok campaign #BeMoreHuman has honestly charged me to break free. To break off the idea that in order for us to be successful it needs to fit within a model or checklist of someone’s standard. It’s brilliant to say the least. It’s, human. It unlocks the door and delivers all of us to be more, us. To stop trying so hard to become and just be. To do, and move and get stronger and get better at just being, me.

This week launches the BREAK YOUR SELFIE focus. I truly encourage you to join me on this.

A few weeks ago I attended a faith and fitness retreat called  Jesus At The Core . I’m still there…much of that event went home with me; as should any encounter with God!

Have you ever spent time with someone and it felt as if every word they spoke pulled out the potential in your life?

So much of that weekend event feels like it’s been released into full bloom. It’s  one of those wild & crazy feelings as if there were seeds that were already planted deep within the soil of my heart and now they’ve been watered with fresh water; now they’re growing.

So let’s back up again…remember our ONE WORD for 2015? (I love getting the comments and notes on INSTAGRAM with  yours – I’m praying for you – if you haven’t shared it with me yet leave yours in the comments). My challenge to you was to set your ONE WORD as your intention and foundation (using whatever scripture God gave you to define this word); to allow everything you think, do and say to fall in line with the purpose of your ONE WORD.

Are you seeing any connections with your word yet?

How is it helping you adjust your focus on reaching your goals?

Ok, so my ONE WORD is MOVE but ever since the Jesus at the Core experience another word has attached itself to my word MOVE; that word is = OCCUPY.

The key scripture for Jesus at the Core confirmed that I was in the right place and opened my heart to the fact that God always has a plan and His timing is always perfect. We started this year with a FOCUS heart intention on Mark 12:30 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength”.

When God needs to get a message to you, He makes sure you can’t ever say but I never knew! Oh how He loves us!!

Alisa Keaton, one of the Jesus At The Core co-founders and founder of the non-profit Revelation Wellness; kept weaving the message of loving God completely throughout her bible study session and started defining the word OCCUPY.

In order for us to get from where we are right now, to the living a life where we’re using our talents & gifts, living healthy, and no longer simply settling but thriving; we need to be willing to allow God to search the deepest valleys of our soul.

To love Him with all of who we are, means to allow Him access to those spaces.  He goes in and anything that’s clutter, taking up space, wearing out its welcome; God will remove it…if we let Him. NOW, here’s where the fun part begins! Now that all this space is cleaned up, we need to make it our business to fill that space with the things that will help us grow & get stronger completely – inside and out. A few weeks ago I joined a group of women on a declutter challenge, and let’s just say it’s been exactly that; a challenge. (Confession: I read the daily to do and was like seriously? ummm mmk? and that’s as far as that one went… #imaworkinprogress )

Ok, back to the other cleaning up stuff…

Here’s where we anchor the truth, reality and I CAN DO THIS.

Luke 11:24 – clarifies how we “Occupy”…

“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’And when it comes, it finds the house swept and put in order. Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last state of that person is worse than the first.”

“No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness.”

After Jesus at The Core, I found I had cleaned up A LOT of space & realized I had a new space. A space that I knew God was calling me to but found myself almost begging Him for another confirmation.

You know how we tend to do right?

Like asking “God, did you really say that or am I making it up?”

Every scripture, every sign, every person that came across my path was pointing to this space but I believe I was dodging & ignoring the obvious.

Oh but He made sure I saw it was Him.

CUZ THAT’S WHAT GOD DOES! He loves us too much to wander & wonder. James says if anyone lacks wisdom, let them ask!

All these things pointing me in the obvious direction was sort of a good thing. The obvious stated that I was scared to become something different. A little anxious about the change.  The obvious stated that I was afraid of the unknown. The obvious whispered “you’re not even qualified to do this”. The obvious stared me in the face when I looked in the mirror and it challenged me with questions like “who do you think you are.” One of my Pastor’s recent messages in his Pursue or Perish series taught us that God is requiring us to deny the obvious so that we can pursue the dream. But here’s the trick of the enemy; ignoring the obvious IS NOT the same as denying it.

Deny: (definition) refuse to admit the truth or existence of something

Ignore: (definition) refuse to take notice of something.

Friends. We can deny God’s truth by refusing to admit what He has placed in our hearts. We can deny the truth of His promises by talking ourselves out of a confirmation.  We can deny when He confirms our identity by living a life that is less than who He created us to be. We deny the right to occupy the new space by listening to the voices that say we are not qualified to be there or enough.

I say no more denying!!!!!

If we ignore what God is telling us, we are in a sense pretending God never said it and so we go on acting, striving, performing and potentially hiding the truth. Even if the truth is the struggle. The struggle with truth is that we have to admit where we are afraid. The struggle with truth is that it requires us to roll up our sleeves and clear out the clutter. It’s like getting rid of the junk we claim is worth something when truthfully it’s not worth a hill of beans.

Let’s stop denying! Let’s stop ignoring. Accepting that we were given a space to occupy is where God steps in with mercy & grace and unconditional love that gives us every tool we need to fill that new space!!!

God is requiring more of us.

Not the performance stuff. He’s requiring more access to the hidden places, to take off the masks, to give Him permission to be in those places. He won’t invade the space, He needs to be invited there. When we invite Him, He helps us do the cleaning and the occupying. Occupying the new space is kinda like a home makeover renovation.

It’s time to clean out the clutter friends; find some freedom right where we stand and OCCUPY!!

You decide…is it easier to keep the anger inside you?

Is it serving you in some way? Or are you ready to release it?

Change is inevitable, Growth is optional.

By simply not showing up, to occupy & embrace our place, we cripple & devalue the potential of God’s plan.

“There is grace in the place that we’re in. Trust that God will put us where He wants us and take your place. It’s not about maximizing my potential so that others applaud it. God has set you in a very significant place. If we don’t embrace it, we will strive to search for recognition and affirmation from some other space. ” – Christine Caine

This message from Christine Caine helped me to embrace the place God has called me to. My prayer for you is that you would embrace yours.

What’s cluttering your space?

Take some time and comment below or journal a prayer in your own journal today asking the Lord to reveal what’s cluttering your space, what needs to be removed. Ask Him to give you a clear understanding of how to embrace your space & occupy.

Let’s move in freedom friends. Let’s occupy! I love you.

Father I pray for the person reading this. Lord I pray they would recognize their freedom to move. Help us Lord to no longer deny or ignore but to pursue those things you’ve placed in our hearts. As we clear out the clutter of our hearts help us to know which things are to be tossed, which things are to be given away and which things we should keep. We open our hands, we open our hearts and we open our spirit to you and your instruction. In Jesus name, AMEN.

3 Thoughts on “Move Free: OCCUPY your space

  1. Love the way God is speaking to you! He shared a similar message with Daniellle who wrote a post about it last week: and I have really been mediating on the “if your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light” verse for a few weeks now. The Spirit is moving!
