Monday motivation: making habits happen

Life is unpredictable.

Some days are brilliant beyond our imaginations other days are dim and questionable. One thing is constant and certain…

God was. Is and always will be!

This past weekend I saw some amazing things happen that proved to me God is still in the business of making life adventurous!

I watched my 82 year old father-in-law interact with my 12 year old son & they laughed together to the point of tears. He kept slapping his knee and chuckling in a deep southern Alabama drawl “Oh boy, you done hurt my belly I laughed so hard”. It was pure bliss to watch them!

Proverbs 17:22 says a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Watching my father in law laugh from his belly, wiping tears from his eyes, I considered how happy his body was, how he was literally breathing life into those aging bones and all the wonderful things that were happening to his life simply because they laughed together. Later that day I watched him teaching life lessons with my 19 year old in a spell bound way that only wisdom commands it’s due respect & attention. In both occasions I watched my father-in-law; this wise man of God; impart something into my children which confirmed Proverbs 23:23.

On Sunday I experienced miracles performed right before my eyes. Glory be to God!!! We had a healing service at our church, a woman with MS walked after nearly 25 years of no movement at all from her legs. Another woman crippled from neck injury/surgery tossed her walker and knee brace and her spine was straightened; she began to walk, jump and dance. A Vietnam veteran who was shot & injured in his back during war, walked with a cane ever since, threw down his cane and ran!

Still ‘drunk’ from this spiritual high, I sat down at the end of my night to catch up on my devotional reading from She Reads Truth and it smacked me in the face.

His love for us is a lot bigger than our love for us. (Romans 5:6-11)

The adventure that moves us from day to day, catching glimpses of moments which prove to us there’s no way on earth we did this or that by ourselves, the sweetness in laughter, the unpredictable blessings in disguise…whatever adventure God has you on, know this…This one thing remains, His love never fails, never gives up and never runs out!

Keep your heart pumpin, spirit movin’ and get inneractive! (Ephesians 3:16)
