Giving & receiving. You get what you expect

What you expect to receive next year, that’s exactly what you’ll get! The thing we expect to happen we cooperate with. // Pastor Robin @igochurch

Who’s expecting HUGE mind-blowing world-rocking breakthroughs in 2016? What are you doing RIGHT NOW to remove the obstacles on your path in order to receive these blessings? (Proverbs 14:12)

We had such a “get ready already” message today at church. Truth is, most of us have stopped ourselves from reaching our goals and even living the full lives God wants us to live. Why? Is it that it requires work? Is it that we don’t realize that we deserve it? Or maybe we just haven’t come to the point that we can accept that all God really wants is for us to let Him unpack His customized plan instead of us trying to create a “I wanna live like her” knock off.

Anticipation ➕ Expectation ➕ Patience = Abundant Intentional Life

Advent Day 7: Expectation + Anticipation
Active. Vibrant. Faithful. Good.

Worthy of Praise & Glory.
He longs for us to EXPECT Him to show up.

Oh Come EMANUEL

“And if we’re not waiting with baited breath and goosebumps in anticipation of what God wants to do in our lives, then I think we’re missing out on His best life for us.”// Rach Kincaid #NTDAdvent

BEHOLD THE KING, BEHOLD MESSIAH

“Look! I’m standing at the door and knocking. If any hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to be with them, and will have dinner with them, and they will have dinner with me. As for those who emerge victorious, I will allow them to sit with me on my throne, just as I emerged victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.”

Today’s #MakeRoomForAdvent focus is EXPECT. I love that God has prepared my heart for this surrendered decluttering.

Sunday morning’s message from our Pastor felt like he handed us a chisel, a shovel and heavy duty gloves and gave us specific instructions on how to make changes right now if we are expecting changed next year.
It begins by changing our expectations. “We cooperate with what we expect”.
Our words, our thoughts, our actions begin to lean in towards the things we expect.
Can I ask you what my devotional checked my heart with?
He stands at the door and knocks. It’s locked from the inside.
What do you expect?
Where can I be more expectant and ask Him to show up?
Where can you let Him into the quiet and private places, where things move from salvation to relationship?
For me, it’s in the longing to be invited instead of being the planner & host. It’s in the desire to be adored in exchange for the desperate need to be the encourager. It’s in the hungry spaces left unfulfilled by stuff and accomplished goals.

Oh Come EMMANUEL
