Never underestimate the power of an invitation! If you’re the one being invited, humbly accept and humbly arrive. If you’re the one doing the inviting, open your house, your heart and your love.

I love my family because we are wildly quirky, perhaps strange to the average person, but they are mine! Every inside joke, every random look, every heart felt tear jerker memory…they’re mine and I’m blessed!

I love watching each of my kids find their ‘fit’ in our family and they’re learning each if their individual talents & gifts are needed for a specific purpose to complete our family puzzle.

Growing up with 7 siblings it amazes me that somehow we each played a unique role within our family & the people around us. But even as adults while I can see those roles being redefined; there were times I wondered how or where we ever ‘fit in’.

I sometimes question where I belong, which group I’m a part of and often I’ll watch the people around and try to see if we’d click.

Having a place to belong or connect with isn’t a about finding an identical match or carbon copy, I learned that quickly in my family. We’re all so very different yet collectively we’re one.

Think about keys & locks. They work because one needed to be shaped, refined and even a bit of heat grinding in order for it to work in the specific lock it was designed for.

Every friendship, job, skill I’ve ever had in my life I’ve tried to “fit” and God had truly shown me that as long as I would continue to squeeze or conform I would always be misfit. But if I allow Him to place me where I needed to be, I could be the specific one for that task!

I’m challenging you today to consider where you may have considered yourself or someone else the “misfit”. Ask God to continue to reshape you & put you exactly where you belong.

 

 

Luke 14

He went on to tell a story to the guests around the table. Noticing how each had tried to elbow into the place of honor, he said, “When someone invites you to dinner, don’t take the place of honor. Somebody more important than you might have been invited by the host. Then he’ll come and call out in front of everybody, ‘You’re in the wrong place. The place of honor belongs to this man.’ Red-faced, you’ll have to make your way to the very last table, the only place left. “When you’re invited to dinner, go and sit at the last place. Then when the host comes he may very well say, ‘Friend, come up to the front.’ That will give the dinner guests something to talk about! Called for a purpose

January 1st I started a challenge with fitness mentor Chalene Johnson that would PUSH ME DAILY toward the truest goals I had set in my heart.

I made my requests to God! The bible says come boldly, so I prayed those WHY NOT CUZ MY GOD CAN DO MORE THAN I COULD EVER IMAGINE RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME things…you know the ones you wish could happen; actually you know deep down in your soul they could happen if you just stopped being so afraid of stuff. And people! Yeah, those goals.

So I set out, with God’s instruction (Matthew 6:33, Colossians 3, 1 Peter); my anchor (Ephesians 3:16 & Hebrews 6) and a little fire to keep my heart pumpin’ & spirit movin’ (2 Timothy 1:6).

Anyway, I was invited to attend a fitness industry summit at the Reebok Headquarters in Boston. First of all, WHAT! That in itself was blowing my mind. Call me simple but I had never been to Boston so I was already amped just from the invite, on top of that I had never been to the Headquarters of any major fitness brand. And yes I was grinning ear to ear! I felt like I was holding the golden ticket to the Wonka Factory!

Oh, I guess I should’ve started by telling you one of my PUSH accomplishments as a FitFluential Ambassador was being selected as a brand ambassador for ReebokONE! RIGHT!!!!! Still trying to wrap my brain around that. I’ve just logged it under “all these other things” mentioned in Matthew 6:33.

Ok back to the Reebok HQ Fitness Summit…a team of the ambassadors were invited to sit under the amazing leadership & insight of the well known fitness industry business consultant Thomas Plummer. The inspiration & resources he threw at us had my mind on hiper-speed, super-stimulation and I couldn’t wait to start implementing what he gave us! Priceless!!!!

When I realized the talent I was sitting in the room with, initially I thought “God how; why; when did I even reach this level. Am I at this level? How did I get to this level?” I looked around the room at the diversity, the amazing fitness disciplines, the training philosophies and again I wondered when God was going to reveal the why & how to me. As the day progressed I recognized that we were each individually hand selected not just for the quality of discipline we had already established but for the hunger we possessed.

That’s what this summit was about. I heard Dave Ramsey & John Maxwell say to check your company. Are they challenging you to be better? Are they a part of an environment that pushes you to be more? If not, they’re slowly killing you and your dreams! This was an environment of greatness and I was already charged with taking this to the next level but not in a competitive way but inspired to find my own level of awesome!

The entire weekend was amazing. It probed me to recognize where I’ve held back. It challenged me to see myself humbly but realistically how far I’ve come and the potential I have to change things, people and this world! I may have started the push in January but really, this is where it begins. This is where the fire starts. I’m taking a few people with me down this road to awesome, you wanna come?

I still remember my first run. I went for a lunch time ‘walk’ with one of the trainers where I taught kickboxing. She jogged while I power walked. She pointed out that my power walking pace was the same as her jogging pace, and if I just bent my knees, shortened my stride and practiced my breathing I could be on my way to my first 5K. I lost my breath just thinking about it!!
And everyone that knows my love-hate relationship with running; knows how nervous I get before we start. However, once we get movin’ my body recognizes how awesome it feels and my mind clears every cluttering thought it had previously trapped! No joke!

What can you expect?

Finding confidence 

There’s a very thin line between confidence and conceit.

When you find freedom you find boldness. When you find freedom, you find strength deep down on the inside that makes you stand tall. There’s a thin line. That line was drawn in the sand. Your confidence is not found in who you were, it is not stolen by any reminders of your past. Nothing anyone says to you or about you should define who you are. You are a child of the ONE TRUE KING!!!!!! KNOW THAT! I pray you would find your anchor in Christ, that His assurance to you of who you are becomes the thing that keeps you grounded when the world tries to shake you, break you and make you. In Christ we stand. In Christ we move, live and have our being!
