Starting over isn’t because you’re weak and you failed. Starting over is because you’re strong enough to recognize that some things needed to be corrected rather than continue doing them the wrong way.

Stability:

The best way to find our stability is to identify the thing that’s causing us to be off-balance. It’s absolutely true that you are only as strong as your weakest link. When you identify the thing that’s making you weak allow God to give you the grace to strengthen it.

Conviction: the place where God puts His finger on a place in your life that needs to change AND He gives you the grace to change it! -Steven Furtick

We tell our kids, when they were little and didn’t know any better, we had an obligation to teach them right from wrong. IF & WHEN they made a mistake we showed them the mistake and then gave them the opportunity to do better. How foolish would it be if we just expected them to do right without knowing what right was OR without them knowing what the expectation was? It’s a tangled web of deception and failed expectations simply for a lack of knowledge. Scripture tells us that we fail for a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Thank God that He never does that to us. In fact He gives us the opportunity to choose life, AFTER He has given us the expectation He has for us. And His expectations aren’t ones we can’t live up to. Especially when we consider that He gives us the strengths, abilities and gifts to live worthy of that life. (Ephesians 4) Even when unexpected circumstances come our way, His word promises that although the enemy has come to kill, steal and destroy Christ has come that we would not just survive but live abundantly.

“Keep Making Me” – Sidewalk Prophets

Make me broken
So I can be healed
‘Cause I’m so calloused
And now I can’t feel
I want to run to You
With heart wide open
Make me broken

Make me empty
So I can be filled
‘Cause I’m still holding
Onto my will
And I’m completed
When you are with me
Make me empty

[Chorus:]
‘Til You are my one desire
‘Til You are my one true love
‘Til You are my breath, my everything
Lord, please keep making me

More healthy & happy!!!

FOCUS: Emotional eating

20140329-094530.jpg

SOURCE: Dr. Caroline Leaf

April is Stress Awareness Month and it got me to thinking about Emotional eating: aren’t we all emotional eaters?

We celebrate with food; we show condolences or support with food; we even gather around found just to show how much we need each other.

I wonder could it be that it’s not so much the food that’s the issue but our emotions.

What if we got control of our emotions. We can usually control the food we turn to during the emotional roller coaster; the food feels like a safety net or a gas pedal depending on which road you’re on. But what about the emotions. Don’t emotions come from a trigger of perception concerning the situation? Perceptions create our responses = EMOTIONS

What if our perceptions changed and we began to see things different. If even in the midst of a “this is way beyond anything I ever imagined”; we paused and let God filter our response.

Give me the ability to see good things in unexpected places; and talents in unexpected people, and give me the GRACE to tell them so. – unknown

What if, in this new season we allowed God to help us grow right where we are. Allow Him to reach into our hearts and find those perceptions that send us full speed ahead on a collision with doubt, fear, anxiety, comparison, inadequacy…(feel free to fill in the blanks)

Do not [earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:18, 19 AMP)

Our emotions are real but we cannot let them continue to feed us lies! We cannot continue to allow them to take us down dead-end roads!

Join us for the April Spring Cleaning F.O.C.U.S. (I’m not calling it a challenge, cuz it seems we’ve seen enough of those but we have yet to adjust our focus. It’s time to adjust our focus otherwise we’ll keep facing the same challenges!)

NUTRITION MONTH: SOUL FOOD & Working out

What wings are to a bird, and a sails to a ship; so is prayer to the soul;

– Corrie Ten Boom

Prayer is like a workout for your soul (SOUL: your mind, your will, your imagination, your emotions), and just like working out; initially it’s going to take some sort of incentive or encouraging motivation to get started.

20140215-085320.jpg

In all my years as a fitness professional it’s rare that I find a lot of people that naturally are excited about their first workout. In fact it’s safe to say a lot of people are nervous & anxious, simply because they’re not even sure they’ll do it right. Or they’re afraid everyone else is twenty steps ahead of them. Some have said to me directly that they see the long road ahead of them and think there’s no way they can get there.

From day 1 it starts with finding a reason to start moving/praying. Everyone’s reason is different, so the motivation to start will push you with a force that’s required according to your own need. To me that pretty amazing that God created us in such a way that we have this little mechanism inside of us that recognizes our individual needs and responds once we simply recognize that we need EVEN IF we aren’t yet sure what the need is.

That’s where we all start. Don’t believe the lie (the voice in your head) that says everyone is ready & excited all the time; when you look around at the people posting on social media about their workouts, what they ate for lunch or their positive messages & faith walk; it can feel discouraging if you’re not quite there yet.

BE ENCOURAGED. We all started at square one.

Every new day we do one more rep. (That just means the number of times you repeat a movement or series of movements as a ‘repetition’) Each new rep makes us stronger!

Every new day you get the opportunity to make one more decision to live better.

Every new day you make one more move to get your heart pumpin.

Every new day YOU make one more decision to exchange your thoughts of defeat, compromise, regret, rejection, for thoughts that feed your soul.

Thoughts that are parallel & identical to what God says about you.

Thoughts that remind you of who God says you are.

Thoughts that initially feel too heavy or difficult to pick up because the devil wants you to doubt your own strength so he tries to make you think you aren’t worthy to live up to them. But Christ says “no I have chosen you”, (1 Peter 2:9 ) “I have created you, wonderfully”. (Psalm 139) “I have plans for your future” (Jeremiah 29).

Every time you pick up God’s words (scriptures) and begin to speak them, you are strengthening your faith!

Faith increases by hearing the truth of Christ (Romans 10:17); faith is a muscle, pick up the truth like it was your strength training program; work it out!!!

Your faith becomes a shield! Carry your shield at all times! It protects you from fiery darts of attacks, threats, jabs, insults, your own doubts, comparisons, negative thoughts…

Faith is like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it becomes!!

Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live. Don’t suppress the Spirit, and don’t stifle those who have a word from the Master. On the other hand, don’t be gullible. Check out everything, and keep only what’s good. Throw out anything tainted with evil.

May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.

Don’t forget to grab your interval workout from the March challenge! You can do this!

The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it! (1 Thessalonians 5:12-24 MSG)

Hebrews 11:1,2 (Message)The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, {this faith}, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. {brackets mine – emphasis on THIS FAITH}

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 John 1:2

“Things feed us in life, that are not necessarily on our plate. These foods are secondary. Our primary ‘food’ comes from our daily lives.”-Joshua Rosenthal (Founder of Institute of Integrative Nutrition)

My goal is to help you live healthy; spirit, soul and body. To keep your heart pumpin & spirit movin’.

Maybe you’ve tried to “eat better” or tried some sort of quick fix plan or maybe you’ve given up all together.  What you put inside your body has more lasting benefits than what you look like on the outside.

We all know that what you eat is important. But so is when you eat, especially if you’re active. That’s why, in this workout nutrition infographic, we share what to eat before, during, and after exercise.
