Healthy Holidays: Always and never enough.

November 1st. Wow yall seriously 2017 is almost over but honestly I don’t want to *cause* myself to walk into a fit of “oh no what are we gonna do” so I’m giving myself permission to pause.

I want to let this month be more about less doing and INTENTIONALLY (more than normal) be focused on ALWAYS BEING. (Philippians 1:1-4)

Lately I’ve felt an overwhelming unsettling happening in my spirit, soul and body and today I listened to a podcast that suggested perhaps the unsettling is a hint at a case of the “never enough”…

Cue the ugly cry.

Right?

Because how often are we feeling never enough.

Pardon me for including you in that but I think I’m safe. But, Forgive me if you’re not feeling that squeeze.

This month, we’re starting there. In the ‘always and never’.

If you’re not there, can I still invite you to come sit at the table and maybe, you’ll find something that feeds whatever you’ve been hungry for.

Always and never.

These two words I heard in my spirit a few months ago when I sat down to read through Proverbs 31. I honestly let out a rebellious sigh thinking to myself that I can never measure up to her and almost before I could finish the thought, the Holy Spirit poured out this truth “you are not allowed to ever consider yourself in the context of your identity as always or never, to do so would cause you to miss the opportunities of growth, transformation and whatever I am currently doing through you.”

When He gave me this to consider, He followed up with the fact that when He designed us, it was with the truth that we are created in His Image; Imago Dei; and whenever we consider the gifts, talents, mind, ability and opportunities in this life; we are walking in authority with the ability that He gave us in order to be the hands and feet of Christ. We are here to finish the work that He started in us. Therefore, knowing this truth, we are and have never arrived completely at always or never.

Have I confused you?

Perfect. Because this is the very thing that the deception of the lie of comparison does. It convinces us that we are always something or the other or it cleverly describes one mistake as an absolute spiraling us down a slope of defeat called never. And His word promises that we are all being transformed everyday with renewed minds.

Friends, breathe.

Let’s do this one day at a time. Could you use that pause. I didn’t say you have to quit doing anything, I am merely suggesting a more specific intention regarding being.

So here’s what we’re doing in this season of life. We’ll be digging into the words of Paul that remind us how to adjust our focus toward lasting joy.

Our anchor verse is Philippians 4:8; but we are going to dig into the entire book using the She Reads Truth study guide also found here with devotionals ( http://shereadstruth.com/plan/philippians/ )

Whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just
whatsoever things are pure
whatsoever things are lovely
whatsoever things are of good report
if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)

Are we feeding faith or fear: Overcoming Anxiety

Have you ever dealt with anxiety?

I have. FOR YEARS!!! And here’s where I found the solution!

And I continue to use it whenever new issues, people, things, and problems try to overwhelm me!

And yes, you’ll need to continue to ‘work it out’ on a regular basis just like one visit to the gym won’t make you fit, one prayer won’t keep you well!

Surrender

I started this devotional on the bible app and asked God to help me remove anything that’s a distraction from allowing Him access to my heart, (Psalm 139:23) my life and my mind. I’d love for you to join me.

The 21 Day Plan – We start TODAY!

I’m reading the @YouVersion plan ‘Living the Surrendered Life’. Check it out here:

No spirit of fear

Friends, Grace covers us and removes every fear, every anxious thought, every regret, every what if, every thought that tries to hold itself higher than the name of Christ, every doubt that says we can’t because we think we are either not enough or too much, every deception & lie that disguises itself as truth and tries to convince us that it’s too late or too soon. Grace is the qualifier. Grace IS the reflection of the cross & the Cross was enough!

For you, me & her and all the rest of them!

I’ve seen many searching for answers far & wide and I know we’re all searching for answers only you provide and you know just what we need before we say a word.

➕ And you call me deeper still… (Good Good Father Chris Tomlin)

Intentional expectation -cultivating a flourishing life

Our victory is that we treasure Christ in a way that exposes the world as unsatisfying – John Piper

Friends, yesterday I listened to Lara Casey’s periscope on imperfect progress with a huge knot in my throat. And with tear stained pages, I fervently scratched down the notes as she spoke straight to my heart.

I don’t have to stop living while I’m making progress – Lara Casey

God has been unfolding the many layers & depths of His love for us. Bit by bit, moment by moment He unveils the immeasurable purposes He has for us; but we can’t  unlock that treasure without  the key – His love.

His love.

I know. It seems too simple of an answer to our overwhelming issues and mind scattering concerns.

But in the shadow of the Cross, we see why His love is enough.

But hear me out; our lives are NOT overshadowed or overlooked by the cross, no; Satan would want us to believe that. In fact, our lives are {found, redeemed, defined, discovered & restored} because of the shadow of the Cross.

The shadow falls behind the cross, facing God, with His glorious light shining directly on the Son who stands in front of us as our protection!

Satan would want us to believe that in the shadow we are hidden – not seen. When in fact, it’s because of being hidden in THAT shadow; we are seen & found!

See, Satan wants you & I to believe that God can’t be bothered with our daily worries. The mundane stuff, the insecurity stuff, the ‘I thought I was over that’ stuff, the ‘why didn’t my husband notice’ stuff, the ‘where’s my husband’ stuff… Right? The stuff that we think we can satisfy with our own hard hustle. I HATE THE WORD HUSTLE! BLEGHHHH

Hustle isn’t intentional focus.

Let me repeat that HUSTLE IS NOT INTENTIONAL FOCUS!!!

Intentional focus is rooted in deep soul that God has tended, dug up the hard places and given us a new heart!

Satan would want us to think that good intentions, hopes and hustle unlock the promises of God so He keeps us there. Overshadowing the cross.

Friends, if we’re going to be anything that God purposed for us, let us be diligent in seeking His heart.

I’m so glad Lara Casey captured her encourage my on katch because y’all need to listen to this! Here’s the message

BUT WAIT… There’s more… LOL I’ve always wanted to say that!

Open Your Bible

I nourish my life with good intentions and expect it to thrive, when only Jesus can quench my soul-deep thirst. – She Reads Truth

Seriously y’all, the Open Your Bible study has been showing me just how synchronized God is. EVERYTHING is lined up. HE IS INTENTIONAL.

Have you ever set your focus on something & start seeing a theme or similar messages along your path and finally your light bulb goes off and you realize that God is trying to tell you something?!?!?! THAT is God’s providence!

It’s week 3 of She Reads Truth – Open Your Bible study & we’re talking about Engaging Truth!

Open your bible and read John 4:7-15

  • What’s the woman’s response when Jesus tells her the effect the living water will have on her life?
  • What are the empty wells the Samaritan woman drew from in her own life? Did Jesus disqualify her from His invitation because she was broken, or did He offer the water because she was empty?
  • What are some empty wells you go to each day in search of life-giving water? How are those different than the water Jesus describes in verse 14?
  • What would it be like to stop nourishing our lives with good intentions and empty wells?

Embrace the imperfect, it’s better than being stuck – Lara Casey

30/30 Intention

Therefore if anyone is united with the Anointed One, that person is a new creation. The Old life is gone – and see – a new life has begun. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Our new addition to the tribe 2002

My blessings of cultivating intentional expectation shows up in the imperfect progress of my family! Friends, let’s open our bibles to find God, knowing that His word is unlocking our lives-engage God’s Truth expectantly!

Imperfect progress is progress! It’s moving forward- Lara Casey

Unlock your best ideas

Oh friends as I read this morning’s incourage devotional something in me stood up tall and my heart rate increased with so much expectation!!!! I trust that light & fire in you will feel the fanning as well!!

“It’s locked in you. You know it. You feel it.
It’s a sacred stirring. You sense it so deeply that you know it’s not an inkling of your imagination but rather an igniting of God’s revelation. God is pointing you in the direction of this idea. You are thrilled by the general sense of it. You are willing to do it. You are eager for the specifics and desperate for the details to come into focus.
You just can’t get a clear picture of what it is.
You just haven’t figured out how to get to it.
This is the chaos of the creative who gets close, very close to their very best idea ever.”

FITness: Learning something new ReDiscover YOU

What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do but never have?

Why not?

What stopped you?

What if you discovered that there’s nothing standing in your way but you?

Living a healthy lifestyle (from the inside out) is a combination of understanding & unlearning your current lifestyle and a willingness to learn how to apply new ideas, thought patterns and habits.

Its less about bout getting it right And more about getting it done.

“Our physical bodies may wander. At times our souls may feel orphaned and lost. But deep within, through the layers of external identity, we can burrow down to the deepest part of who we are, the quiet center we know is in there, the grounded place we’ve felt but can’t see. This solid ground, this rock identity, this fixed point by which all other points are measured, this is our spiritual self, our alive-ness in Christ, our true home.” – Simply Tuesday

UNLEARNING

Why is it that we have such a strong desire to be a part of something or fear being left out that we pine for it even at the risk of neglecting what we already belong to?

It’s typically not the things we feel obligated to but the things that have become so ordinary to us that we stutter to notice the slightest significance within the relationship.

Going after the desires of our hearts and using our abilities often means going in the opposite direction of the crowd.

It sometimes means that there will not be a manual or an example to follow. Because maybe, JUST MAYBE YOU ARE BEING MADE AS THE EXAMPLE THEY’LL FOLLOW!!

You won’t get it right. But you’ll get it done. You’ll get it done by grace. When grace fills you with a creative ability and power that says ‘it fell apart as it came together’.

“Faith isn’t always a leap. Sometimes it’s just one little step after another, with lots of falling down and getting back up in between”- Unknown

CONFIDENCE IN THE DOING
