Non-scale victories this time will be different

wEIGH LESS TO FEED MORE INVITE

“But, except for these special cases, I’m not going to walk around on eggshells worrying about what small-minded people might say; I’m going to stride free and easy, knowing what our large-minded Master has already said. If I eat what is served to me, grateful to God for what is on the table, how can I worry about what someone will say? I thanked God for it and he blessed it!

So eat your meals heartily, not worrying about what others say about you—you’re eating to God’s glory, after all, not to please them. As a matter of fact, do everything that way, heartily and freely to God’s glory. At the same time, don’t be callous in your exercise of freedom, thoughtlessly stepping on the toes of those who aren’t as free as you are. I try my best to be considerate of everyone’s feelings in all these matters; I hope you will be, too.”
1 Corinthians 10:29-33 MSG

Maybe you have struggled with your weight your entire life, riding a constant roller coaster of numbers that go up and down along with pant sizes. Or maybe you are finding yourself more stressed out and pressed upon by the world and all its demands. Perhaps you just don’t feel as well in your body as you do in your spirit. Weigh Less to Feed More is going to change the way you perceive yourself and the way that you live your life. This time the change will occur from the inside out. We are seeking a change with roots that go deeply, so that when life comes at you hard and fast, you will stand firm in the truth of who God is and who He intends you to be. {pulled directly from the materials you’ll receive as a participant in the Weigh Less to Feed More FOCUS group}

On a scale of 1-10 how motivated and willing are you to change?

Swimsuit Confidence: Gut Check

Gut check anyone? I hear people say they go on elimination diets to clean out their bodies of the toxic chemicals and potential food allergens affecting their body in negative and harmful ways. By process of elimination they determine the culprit. They only keep foods that are natural, from the earth, clean nothing processed or man-made.

God’s word… Same deal.

God's Word

It was written as a whole body (spirit, heart & mind) detoxification & cleansing of the potentially harmful toxins (attitudes, thoughts, habits, behaviors, speech, etc) And here’s what pretty radical, His word isn’t one of those fad diets that one day research will discover it doesn’t work; on the contrary more and more doctors (true story) are discovering it’s the one true consistent habit we’ve failed to include in our daily healthy lifestyle changes.

What could happen if we decided to go all-in for 30/60/90 days; the way we approach sugar-detox; whole 30 or any other new way of eating?

Would you consider it with me?

Are we feeding faith or fear: Overcoming Anxiety

Have you ever dealt with anxiety?

I have. FOR YEARS!!! And here’s where I found the solution!

And I continue to use it whenever new issues, people, things, and problems try to overwhelm me!

And yes, you’ll need to continue to ‘work it out’ on a regular basis just like one visit to the gym won’t make you fit, one prayer won’t keep you well!

Surrender

I started this devotional on the bible app and asked God to help me remove anything that’s a distraction from allowing Him access to my heart, (Psalm 139:23) my life and my mind. I’d love for you to join me.

The 21 Day Plan – We start TODAY!

I’m reading the @YouVersion plan ‘Living the Surrendered Life’. Check it out here:

No spirit of fear

Friends, Grace covers us and removes every fear, every anxious thought, every regret, every what if, every thought that tries to hold itself higher than the name of Christ, every doubt that says we can’t because we think we are either not enough or too much, every deception & lie that disguises itself as truth and tries to convince us that it’s too late or too soon. Grace is the qualifier. Grace IS the reflection of the cross & the Cross was enough!

For you, me & her and all the rest of them!

I’ve seen many searching for answers far & wide and I know we’re all searching for answers only you provide and you know just what we need before we say a word.

➕ And you call me deeper still… (Good Good Father Chris Tomlin)

““It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.”

Spring Cleaning Detox: Weighing your why

Hebrews 12:1-3 English Standard Version (ESV)

12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Do Not Grow Weary
3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

WHY? WHY WOULD YOU STOP NOW?

Why when you’ve put in so much work, effort, discipline, time and commitment would you quit? (I’m just preachin to myself)

WHY?

The thing you were after, your breakthrough, your healing, your BIG GOAL is on the other side of where you’re standing right now.

WHY?

Why quit now?

Isn’t this the reason you started in the first place? I get it, you’ve done everything you know to do, you’ve exhausted yourself, you’ve pushed yourself further than you’ve ever pushed in your life. But ok, you won’t go there. (Stil just preachin to myself)

 THROW OFF THE WEIGHT

THERE.

There is where the blessing sits.

There is the help you’ve been praying about.

There is the key that unlocks the chains

YES there’s a grip. It’s called a STRONGHOLD. It’s holding on strong, to you!

One that can only be unlocked or broken through humility. Humility of recognizing and admitting I CAN’T, but God can.

Humility that accepts HIS plan might take me off course.

Humility that submits to the idea that His plan might require me to go help someone else instead of helping myself. Helping someone else without expecting them to return the favor.

Humility that says let’s talk about where you came from.

Humility that takes you back there.

Humility that says THIS IS WHO YOU ARE.

Humility that says NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO QUIT.

Humility that does what’s required even when what’s required seems too ridiculous or too humbling!

How bad do you want it?  Is it worth one more time? Is it worth the weight?

WHERE’S YOUR FAITH?

Faith is not passive, it speaks, it acts, it stretches.

Yesterday I was challenged to move toward something I truly believed yet my actions deceptively proved otherwise.

I got pushed, almost to tears, oh y’all, I pushed through but it wasn’t easy.

I’m telling y’all the voices of accusation, guilt and rationalization were there to cheer me on and when I felt like quitting they cheered YES JUST STOP WHY ARE WOULD YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF.

Then I heard “faith without works is dead”…

Something came alive in me.

I know it was faith.

I know it was trust that God never leaves us and fully equips us with what we need.

I know it was a flame that tried to go out but I had to fan it, to ask God to breathe on it! Faith is a verb.

When’s the last time your faith did something greater than fear?

When’s the last time your faith had a voice?

When’s the last time your faith moved?

When’s the last time your faith was stretched WITHOUT getting twisted or bent out of shape?

Where’s your faith?

Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense? (‭James‬ ‭2‬:‭14-17‬ MSG)

How much does your why weigh?

Spring Cleaning: Weeding out distractions

“The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition.” – Thomas Edison

Ok y’all so this Spring Cleaning Challenge is all about getting rid of the junk that clutters our thoughts, weighs us down and keeps us from living healthy & happy lives. Right? Right. So what’s some of the junk you’ve already identified? If you’re just joining the challenge, make sure you go back and grab the resources we’ve shared already!

What are your most common distractions? Why do you think you gravitate toward each of those distractions?

This week we’re talkin’ about distractions. Sometimes we think we don’t get distracted. Well, at least I don’t think I get distracted, don’t know about y’all! Then you notice yourself daydreaming. Or you find yourself scrolling through facebook for way too long. Or you’re out shopping for something to wear and start wondering if that dress looks the same way on you as the the girl who’s wearing it in the store or if life would be better if only _______ fill in the blank. Those distractions.

And if you’re wondering what in the world this has to do with Spring Cleaning. Again, go back to last week’s post  (YOU NEED IT TRUST ME)!!

What is a distraction:

: something that makes it difficult to think or pay attention

: something that amuses or entertains you so that you do not think about problems, work, etc.

: a state in which you are very annoyed or upset

What are your most common distractions? Why do you think you gravitate toward each of those distractions?

Today I’m hitting on distractions because we’ve reached a new season. Most of us started the year with goals in mind. Ready to take on “THIS YEAR” as our year. This year we decided this would be the year we would finally go after the things that we’ve always wanted, punching fear in the face and dreaming bigger dreams than we could even wrap our mind around!!!! Right?

Please don’t tell me I was the only one with this WHOOP WHOOP LET’S GO BE AWESOME mind-set. I mean seriously I bought a copy of the book Make It Happen and I was ready to, well, do just that!

So what happened? Where’d the GO GO GET’EM fire go?

Truth is, it’s still there. And several of us actually did something with that passion, even if the something that we did doesn’t seem glamorous or bucket-list worthy to someone else. What matters is that we did it!

But for the rest of us; the ones of us who sat that one goal to the side. To the ones of us who said wow I would love to do that, and I will…one day. To the ones that scrolled through Instagram posts and saw someone we admire doing what we know in our hearts God has called us to do, but we can’t understand why it’s not happening yet. To us. Can we talk about THOSE distractions?

Let’s do something. First. Cut some slack. Look, God has a plan for you. If you’ve followed anything I post, you’ll know that I stand on that truth. And His plan is never for you to fall apart or fail. His plan never includes fear. But He knows that we will be distracted by it so He always always always provides a way out of that fear! And I trust the fact that you’re here reading this now, is that way out of fear.

Fear is a distraction. Fear is a liar. And every lie we have ever heard, lived or listened to comes from the author of lies – satan. Now before you close this post and think oh no here goes one of those “the devil made me do it” messages; that’s not where I’m going. Actually, this is about somewhat him and his plans but more about us and how easy it is for us to listen to ourselves not knowing that it’s coming from his plan to distract us away from the truth.

Galatians 5:6-8 asks us an honest question “You were running your race so well. Who cut you off (lied to you one version says) Who has interfered with you holding you back from following the truth? “

Have you asked yourself that question? Who interfered with you? Who or what DISTRACTED you?

The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My (JESUS) purpose is to give life in all its fullness. (John 10:10)

Identify Your Distractions:

Lara Casey describes distractions as weeds in her book “Make It Happen”.

Weeds have two parts: what you see growing on the surface and the roots below the surface. Some weeds disguise themselves as pretty flowers. What’s above the surface may look harmless – beautiful even- but what’s below the surface threatens to kill everything in sight. Distractions are what we see on the surface; they are things that grow in our lives because of something deeper going on under the surface. Distractions may include things such as excessive social media, TV, food, shopping, negative thoughts, chasing perfection, gossiping, comparison, worry or other negative influences and temptations.

Distractions themselves typically aren’t the root problem, though. We can get rid of what we see, but we have to get to the roots in order to permanently remove the weeds.

Lara describes one of the biggest weeds and probably the most deeply rooted is the weed of comparison – ‘I fear not being enough’. Comparison makes us ungrateful, which is ignoring God’s gifts. When we want what everyone else has, we are blinded to the blessings right in front of us.  She goes into further details about the other two deeply rooted weeds of Connectivity-the fear of not knowing enough and Clutter -the fear of not having enough. I highly recommend getting this book!

So how to we pull those weeds?

  1. Focus:  2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (The Message) The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.
  2. Pray: Talk to God. Let Him honestly know why you’re distracted. Ask Him where you got distracted. Allow Him to show you the things that are begging for your attention.
  3. Cultivate gratitude. Distractions that are rooted in comparison rob us of the joy of appreciating what we have, who we are and snatches our gifts from under us because we are too busy watching what someone else is doing. Gratitude creates a fertile ground for planting new seeds called ENOUGH!

Detox Recipe: It’s time to do some weed pulling. From the roots.

Many of our issues with proper digestion food, our health concerns, our skin complexions and lack of energy are rooted in the foods we eat. This week let’s focus on getting in the foods that will not only help flush out the negative junk but start adding in what we really need.

Clean Eating Magazine is a beautiful resource (ONE OF MY FAVORITES) for meal planning, recipes and tips on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I recently stumbled across this bite of yummy info:

“Munching on crunchy fruits, veggies and nuts is a great way to reduce stress0homoe levels because they release tension in the jaw without adding too many calories. Your best bets: apples, carrots, jicama, brazil nuts and hazel nuts.

“Comparison is not only the thief of joy; it’s the thief of everything.
