He makes me bloom. This man child of mine.

Precious in his spirit, compassionate, free from some of the baggage many of his peers carry yet he has owned things I pray he would recognize aren’t his to maintain.

From the day I discovered he was coming to change my world, to the day I stood and watch him swear an oath to protect and serve our country in the Army National Guard; my heart for this child has been placed in the hands of God.

Prayers and prayers and prayers.

Watching his innocence, reflecting on how deep he holds emotion, how his heart swells for the hearts of others.

Prayers and prayers and prayers.

20 years.

He leaves August 18th for Basic Training. I turn 40 on August 3.

20 years. 20 years of growth. 20 years of life.

Today, I’m gonna DO LIFE BIG as if today were the first day of realizing that 20 years were gifted to me.

The vision will still happen at the appointed time. It hurries toward its goal. It won’t be a lie.

If it’s delayed, wait for it. It will certainly happen. It won’t be late. (Habakkuk 2:3)

20 years included some dirt.

Seeds are planted in dirt.

Today we’ll bloom.

  1. “He makes me bloom”- and all the mothers say, “Amen!” What a beautiful gift our children are! Thank you for sharing this, for expressing it so beautifully. Congratulations to your sweet family and may the next 20 years be just as full of prayers and blooming!

  2. Amen. Amen. Amen…motherhood makes us bloom. God bless you and your family. God bless you first born.
